The annual Rangitikei B grade tournament was a huge success, there was an upset win in the Women’s division one by local player Sally Stantiall, she beat the in form Ngakuira Osborne from Wanganui in 4 sets then went on to beat Kylie Herewini from Taihape. Tom Nash from Squash Pamerston North was the outstanding winner in the Mens top division. Dylan Tasker did well to come runner up after being seeded fourth.He lost to Tom and beat higher graded Blair Landers (Palmerston North)and Warren Mant also from Rangitikei. In Men’s division 4 President Bryan Marshall played some good squash and had two five setters but was unable to win a prize. Men’s division 5 there were 3 local boys but only Paul Keenan went home with a prize – the special plate. Men’s division 4 the two local players played off for the consolation plate – well done to Joel Natusch who won it, although his opponent Mike Nash didn’t go home empty handed, he won the Prince prize draw of a prince squash bag! In women’s division 3 Pauline Slovak played well to come runner-up and only lost to up and coming junior Amanda Cunningham from Dannevirke. The generous prizes sponsored by Pub Charity were very popular and the Saturday evening was topped off by the Hurricanes making the super 14 semi final!!
